Bio:
Justin Beard has served as the Artistic Director of two non-profits organizations in Seattle (USA), and as the co-founder and Production Manager of several theater companies in Berlin. These include The Edward Reed Art Center, Strike Anywhere Productions, The Drifting-Underground Company, Theatre Fragile, and This Foreign Concept. Justin has a diverse performance background with extensive experience in stilt performance, stage combat and mask play as well as classical acting training. He was recently seen in the production Time! (and/or Progress?) a devised play performed in Berlin in 2010. For the past 10 years Justin has dedicated himself to creating and performing new and under produced work in America and Germany. His career as an actor and performer have afforded him opportunities to work with many distinguished film and theater companies. In 2010 he spearheaded the Dhalaristan float - which made its appearance in Berlin's Karneval of Kultures. The Folkloric and Artistic Troupe of Dhalaristan was a project completed thanks to the generous support of the European Cultural Foundation. Justin is also the founder of the Berlin Artists Union (B.A.U) an organization working towards creating fair pay standards in Berlin's free art scene. Justin, is out of passion a theater maker with a background and interest in devised performance, ensemble processes, and alternative economic structuring in the arts. Out of necessity, Justin is also a publicist, producer, teacher, set designer, lighting technician, poster hanger, construction worker, odd jobber, and all around gum-shoe in searching for ways to continue developing new and ground breaking performance.
